Caelin Rooney Earns First Caps for Rep of Ireland U15’s

Caelin Rooney Rep of Ireland

Results:

Ireland 1 Poland 2

Ireland 3 Poland 1

Following his International Call Up in November, Caelin travelled to Rock Celtic F.C grounds in Co.Louth to pull on the Green shirt for the first time in an official capacity and following the first games defeat Caelin made his debut starting the game on the right of midfield playing as a winger.

Poland would go on to win this game 2-1 but two nights later Caelin enjoyed the taste of victory in an Irish Shirt for the first time on as Republic Of Ireland U15 beat Poland 3-1 with Caelin playing the second half and having a very impressive game.

With Poland leading 0-1 at the break Caelin entered the fray and helped his side overturn that deficit and go on to win 3-1.

So after the two games on the Tuesday and Thursday Caelin has two official Caps to his name and no one can ever take that away from him or his Club Clashmore Ramblers .

We are Delighted to say we have an International Player from our League and we hope Caelin can inspire many more to wear the Green of Ireland as the future looks bright with some fine players currently playing with our various Development Squads.

Clashmore Ramblers started far quicker than Castlebridge and quickly went into the lead. Clashmore went further ahead before Castlebridge's, until recently goalie, Shane Hussey latched onto a neat through ball to reduce the deficit. Castlebridge were then awarded a penalty which Jack Reals coolly put away low into the corner. Clashmore again took the lead just before halftime making it 2-3 at the break. The second half was a tense affair. Oisín Cronin scored a lovely goal rounding the keeper before slotting it home. Castlebridge looked the stronger team at this point, but Clashmore scored with about ten minutes remaining to take a game that could easily have gone either way.

Castlebridge Celtic 1 - 0 Ballyduff Rovers

In a hard fought game Castlebridge just edged out a win by a one goal margin.

On a night perfect for good football we were served up a feast of exciting action. There were nice passing moves from both sides and plenty of frantic goal mouth action. The sides were level 0-0 at half time. Early in the second half a period of sustained Castlebridge pressure lead to Rhian Lenehan scoring with a crisp low shot into the corner.

Final score a 1-0 victory for Catlebridge.

This was a very competitive game played in Sexton Park on saturday morning last. Inch started the quicker and were a deserved 1-0 ahead within the first quarter. Valley came back into the game through a well taken goal by Valley forward Dan Turley. Inch however took the lead again in an end to end contest. It was that man Dan Turley who equalised for Valley for the second time. That was the way the score remained until 16 mins to the end when a free from Valley midefielder Fionn McCready was met by Tristan Clancy who slotted the ball home to give Valley the lead. Inch had some chances to equalise but Valley held out for a win which they just about deserved.

Valley Rangers v Brideview United
Honours Even in Conna
WWEC 12 P 23/03 12:00
Valley Rangers 1 - 1 Brideview United
This U12 Premier League encounter was played on a fine Saturday morning in Conna pitch. Brideview as league leaders came into this game as favourites. The last encounter between both these sides in Tallow resulted in a narrow win for Brideview. The game was only a few minutes old when Brideview went ahead through some concerted pressure which led to an unfortunate own goal. Valley then put some pressure on brideview and some battling play in midfield from Fionn McCready was turned into a counter attack. Tristan Clancy collected the ball and with a beautiful through ball put Tymek through down the right hand side. Tymek still had a bit to do but rifled a shot into the roof of the net to equalise matters. brideview hit the crossbar a few minutes later. The second half was end to end stuff with both sides going for the win and both had chances. Brideview pushing hard for the win that would give them the necessary points needed to stay top of the table had some lovely play through Ben Sheehan in midfield and were twarted by Valley goalkeeper Dan Turley on a number of occasions. Charlie Leahy, Brian O'Sullivan and Sam Ahern were excellent for Valley in defence. Valley had a chance to win it in the last few minutes of the game when a lovely ball behind the Brideview defence was met on the volley by Tristan Clancy only to produce a class save by Brideview keeper Alex Good. A fantastic game ended in a Draw which was a fair result.

WWEC 12 P 18/03 11:00
Valley Rangers 5 - 0 Ballymac F.C.
This U12 Premier league game between Valley and Ballymac was played in reasonable conditions in Conna Community Field last Monday morning. Valley had been in good form lately and took an early lead through Thomas Dee after some great play on the left hand side by James Keneally. Valley doubled there lead within 15 minutes when a lovely through ball from Fionn McCready was pounced on by Tristan Clancy who slotted the ball past the BallyMac keeper with his left peg. Ballymac looked dangerous on the break, particularly down the left hand side but couldn't quite get the final ball on target. Valley made it 3-0 before the break when Cillian Fitzpatrick finished off a fine move by Sam Ahern and Ronan Doyle. After the break Valley got a fourth goal after 5 minutes when a free kick on the right hand side was blocked by Ballymac keeper only for the rebunding ball to be slotted home by Valley Forward Tristan Clancy. Ballymac had a dominant 10 minutes and got a deserved penalty but a great save from Valley Keeeper Daniel Turley kept Ballymac scoreless. Then Valley got a penalty from which Cillian Fitzpatrick scored his second. Valley had to defend for large parts in the second half and Charlie Leahy, Brian O'Sullivan, Michael Lazack and James Cotter did well. Billy Ahern was very lively up front for Valley but Man of the Match went to Valley midfielder Fionn McCready who covered every blade of the pitch in a great performance. BallyMac deserved a few goals from the game and played some lovely football but the winner was never in any doubt. Well done to referee Brian Donnelly who had a fine game. Final Score: Valley 5-0 Ballymac.

Valley Rangers v Mogeely F.C.
Valley edge close encounter
WWEC 12 P 09/03 13:00
Valley Rangers 1 - 0 Mogeely F.C.

It was a nice warm but breezy afternoon in conna for this U12 premier league encounter. As we entered this match, Valley and Mogeely sit side by side mid table so it was always going to be a close one.

Mogeely started the brighter and had plenty of the possession in the first half. They had a number of half chances but had one good chance just before half time when the Mogeely centre forward was put through and had just the keeper to beat but Dan Turley in goals for Valley made a wonderful save to his right hand side to deny Mogeely. Valley had one good chance in the first half but Tymek pulled the ball wide from the right hand side.

Valley started the second half a bit brighter and were counter attacking well. This paid off when Tristan Clancy put a lovely ball through to Cillian Hickey who beat one player and finished well to put Valley ahead. Mogeely piled on the pressure and laid siege to the Valley goal for the last 15 minutes of the game but Valley were dogged in defence with Charlie Leahy, Brian O'Sullivan and Mark Kearney playing well. Mogeely had more of the possession right throughout the game and played some lovely football with Alex McSweeney showing brightly in midfield and deserved something from the game. Final score: Valley 1-0 Mogeely.

Mogeely F.C. v Kilworth Celtic
Good win for Mogeely
WWEC 12 P 09/02 11:00
Mogeely F.C. 3 - 0 Kilworth Celtic

Mogeely 3

Kilworth 0

Mogeely were back to winning ways last Saturday morning when they welcomed Kilworth to Railway Park, Mogeely.

Mogeely started with a number of players in new positions and a couple of new players from the U11's to fill in due to a few absentees, between entrance exams and illnesses of who we wish a speedy recovery.

The team started with Matt in goal, Evan, Andrew S. and Cian B. along the last line of defense. Oliver, Ciaran and Alex were across the middle of the park and Alan & Aaron were heading the attack.

Mogeely couldn't have asked for a better start when within the 1st minute Evan & Oli worked a lovely passage of play up the wing with Oli putting the ball into the box and Ciaran "Van Persie" came flying in with a diving header to slam the ball into the goal.

Mogeely enjoyed much of the possession throughout the game and any chance that fell to the Kilworth side was calmly dealt with by the defense line who were well on top. Tadhg, Ben & Mark were introduced during the half and provided fresh options on the wing and upfront.

Mogeely's lead doubled when Alex fired in a dinger of a corner and Ben was at hand to finish from close range to make it 2 nil going into the half.

Alex was to increase Mogeely's lead once more in the second half when he finished a fantastic shot to top corner of the goal giving the Kilworth keeper no chance.

Mogeely Team:

Matt Sweetnam, Evan Connolly, Cian Brennan. Oliver Prokulski, Ciaran Murphy, Alex McSweeney, Alan Nowak, Aaron Flanagan, Tadhg Cooney, Mark O'Mahony & Ben Cooney.

Our reporter took on this game on a cold saturday afternoon in conna. Valley, the league leaders went into the game as favourites but Lismore gave Valley a tough game in the home fixture before Christmas when Valley won 3-2 in a very close contest. Valley started the brighter and Harry Draper, Jack Murphy and Jake O'Brien had chances in the first 20 minutes. Lismore settled into the game and had a shot hit the crossbar after 30 minutes. It was a tight battle in midfield with David McDonnell and Tom Hartnett from Valley combining well. The game was evenly ties at 0-0 at half time. The second half was another tight affair, with Valley coming close from a number of corners. The breakkthrough for Valley came with 20 minutes played in the second half when some fine work by James Hayes on the right hand side put in Dan who slotted home. Kyle Wallace played very well in the Valley defence with some great support from Stephen Roche, Ethan Scotthin and Cillian Fitzpatrick. Lismore then dominated the next 10 minutes and were very unlucky not to score when Valley keeper Shane martin somehow kept out a number of close shots from Lismore. It as from a a shot by lismore off the Valley crossbar that the game was decided. Valley broke quickly and a lovely ball over the top from David McD was nicely finished by Dan for his second. Valley then had a number of other chances to add to their two goal tally but the Lismore keeper was in good form. Final Score: Valley 2-0 Lismore.
