Valley Rangers 5 - 4 Mogeely F.C.
Goals galore in this exciting match in conna pitch on a cool autumn evening. Valley got off to a whirlwind start with two goals in the first five minutes. Tymek Svirinski with the opener and a wonderful half volley into the roof of the net by Valley forward Thomas Dee for the second. Mogeely started to play their way into the game and after a prolonged period of attack got their opener through a nice finish from Colin Murphy. Mogeely then got a second goal through Sean Morgan after approx 15 minutes to level proceedings. It was an end to end encounter and both sides went close before Valley went 3-2 up with a second goal on a counter attack when Thomas Dee broke clear and converted well for his second. The Mogeely keeper, Vincent Egan, made a couple of vital saves to keep Mogeely in the game. Just before half time Conor Hayes struck a long range free kick to give Valley a 4-2 lead at half time. At the start of the second half Valley struck again when Timothy Barry had a great strike from the edge of the box to make it 5-2 to Valley. However Mogeely stormed back into the game with two well taken goals from Colin Murphy to leave matters at the end 5-4 to Valley. Great Hat-trick from Colin Murphy. Nothing between both sides really. Well done to referee Vanessa Curley who had a good game.

Valley edge close encounter

Valley Rangers 1 - 0 Mogeely F.C.

It was a nice warm but breezy afternoon in conna for this U12 premier league encounter. As we entered this match, Valley and Mogeely sit side by side mid table so it was always going to be a close one.

Mogeely started the brighter and had plenty of the possession in the first half. They had a number of half chances but had one good chance just before half time when the Mogeely centre forward was put through and had just the keeper to beat but Dan Turley in goals for Valley made a wonderful save to his right hand side to deny Mogeely. Valley had one good chance in the first half but Tymek pulled the ball wide from the right hand side.

Valley started the second half a bit brighter and were counter attacking well. This paid off when Tristan Clancy put a lovely ball through to Cillian Hickey who beat one player and finished well to put Valley ahead. Mogeely piled on the pressure and laid siege to the Valley goal for the last 15 minutes of the game but Valley were dogged in defence with Charlie Leahy, Brian O'Sullivan and Mark Kearney playing well. Mogeely had more of the possession right throughout the game and played some lovely football with Alex McSweeney showing brightly in midfield and deserved something from the game. Final score: Valley 1-0 Mogeely.

Mogeely F.C. v Kilworth Celtic
Good win for Mogeely
WWEC 12 P 09/02 11:00
Mogeely F.C. 3 - 0 Kilworth Celtic

Mogeely 3

Kilworth 0

Mogeely were back to winning ways last Saturday morning when they welcomed Kilworth to Railway Park, Mogeely.

Mogeely started with a number of players in new positions and a couple of new players from the U11's to fill in due to a few absentees, between entrance exams and illnesses of who we wish a speedy recovery.

The team started with Matt in goal, Evan, Andrew S. and Cian B. along the last line of defense. Oliver, Ciaran and Alex were across the middle of the park and Alan & Aaron were heading the attack.

Mogeely couldn't have asked for a better start when within the 1st minute Evan & Oli worked a lovely passage of play up the wing with Oli putting the ball into the box and Ciaran "Van Persie" came flying in with a diving header to slam the ball into the goal.

Mogeely enjoyed much of the possession throughout the game and any chance that fell to the Kilworth side was calmly dealt with by the defense line who were well on top. Tadhg, Ben & Mark were introduced during the half and provided fresh options on the wing and upfront.

Mogeely's lead doubled when Alex fired in a dinger of a corner and Ben was at hand to finish from close range to make it 2 nil going into the half.

Alex was to increase Mogeely's lead once more in the second half when he finished a fantastic shot to top corner of the goal giving the Kilworth keeper no chance.

Mogeely Team:

Matt Sweetnam, Evan Connolly, Cian Brennan. Oliver Prokulski, Ciaran Murphy, Alex McSweeney, Alan Nowak, Aaron Flanagan, Tadhg Cooney, Mark O'Mahony & Ben Cooney.

There was a good crowd in conna to watch this U14 league match. Valley started the brighter and created a few chances in the first half. Tymek Swrinski going close twice. Mogeely competed well and had a couple of chances of ther own. It was 0-0 at half time. Valley upped the pressure in the second half and Oisin Fitzgerald, Patrick Fennessy and Jack Lazack playing well in the Valley midfield. However it was man of the match Sean O'Donoghue who got the opening goal with a first time strike from a Patrick Fennessy corner that gave the Mogeely keeper no chance. The game was end to send in the second half as both teams chased the crucial econd goal. Mogeely had a great chance when they were awarded a penalty which rebounded off the cross bar. Valley got a lovely second goal through Diarmuid O'Connell and Billy Marsh finished off the scoring in the final minutes. Referee Brian Donnelly had a fine game. Final Score: Valley 3 - 0 Mogeely.

Brideview United v Mogeely F.C.
Brideview edge thriller
WWEC 12 P 25/11 11:00
Brideview United 1 - 0 Mogeely F.C.

Mogeely 0

Brideview 1

Mogeely suffered their first league loss of the season when they took on Brideview Utd in Mogeely on Sunday morning. Both teams went into this game level in 2nd spot with Cappoquin heading the table by 1 point.

This was always going to be a tough game for both sides and even though it was an even contest both keepers had little to do with much of the play tooing and froing in the middle of the pitch.

Jake, Oliver, Alex & Ciaran worked hard in the middle of the pitch for Mogeely with Brideview midfielders equal to the task. Chris, Evan, Oran and Matt did their duties well in defence keeping Brideview at bay except for the only goal midway through the first half. Darius, Alan, Fionn, Andrew & Aaron at various stages looked to attack the Brideview goal up front.

Both teams worked hard but Brideview were very solid in all areas and just about deserved their victory.

Mogeely Team:

Matt Sweetnam, Evan Connolly, Chris O'Donnell, Oran Murphy, Alex McSweeney, Oliver Prokulski, Ciaran Murphy, Jake Magnier, Darius Medves, Aaron Flanagan, Alan Nowak, Fionn Mulcahy, Andrew Montgomery.

Mogeely F.C. v Ballymac F.C.
Good Win for Mogeely
WWEC 12 P 03/11 14:30
Mogeely F.C. 2 - 0 Ballymac F.C.

Mogeely 2

Ballymac 0

Following a night and morning of wind and rain the weather cleared up for this afternoon fixture in Mogeely. Mogeely were looking to getting back to winning ways in their league campaign following their exit from the SFAI national cup last weekend. The team started with Matt in goals, Oran, Chris & Evan in defence. Alex, Ciaran & Cian B. made up the midfield with Andrew S. and Darius leading the way.

Mogeely started well, moving the ball around and getting a couple of shots off forcing the Ballymac keeper into making some excellent saves. Ballymac created a chance of their own getting in one on one with Matt who stood firm to deny a Ballymac opener, this was backed up by defenders Oran & Chris getting back to help clear the lines.

Mogeely were playing well and in control for much of the half. Evan and co-defenders were doing their jobs efficiently as ever. Alex, Ciaran, Cian B. were working hard in the middle of the park. Jake, Aaron and Fionn were introduced during the half and kept that work rate going with Andrew S. and Darius looking for that goal to break the deadlock.

The second half started nil all however within 4 mins of the half Ciaran was to change matters with a fine goal from distance. Alan and Andrew M. made their introductions into the game and fitted in seamlessly getting off a few more shots on target. Nearly halfway through the half and Ciaran doubled his lead with another distance shot. This was how the game was to remain with both sides creating a few more chances only for both defences to stand firm.

All players on both sides played very well today in a competitive game!

Mogeely Team:

Matt Sweetnam, Evan Connolly, Chris O'Donnell, Oran Murphy, Cian Brennan, Ciaran Murphy, Alex McSweeney, Andrew Sweetnam, Darius Medves, Jake Magnier, Fionn Mulcahy, Andrew Montgomery, Aaron Flanagan & Alan Nowak.

Goalscorers Mogeely:

Cian Ryan x 1

Mogeely were too strong for Ballybridge on this fine Saturday afternoon for a 3pm kick off in the community sport field in Ballymacoda.

Cian Ryan opened the scoring picking up the ball from midfield and cutting through the ballybridge defence to shoot past the ballybridge keeper. More pressure from Mogeely led to corner for Mogeely. Colin Murphy delivering a fantastic ball to the back post where James O Donovan was there to meet the cross making it 2 nil. The third was through ball from midfield leaving Joshua Vaughan one on one with the ballybridge keeper and he calmly rounded the keeper to pass it into an empty net. Mogeely 4th came from some neat passing from Mogeely on the left and the ball eventually broke to Colin Murphy outside the Ballybridge box where he struck a sweet strike which was just too high for the Ballybridge keeper. Mogeely 5th was a replica of the third with Joshua Vaughan again one on one with the keeper and coming out on top.

2nd half ballybridge started very strong and put Mogeely under a lot of pressure and got just reward with a goal from there right hand side.

The tide again turned Mogeelys way with Joshua Vaughan breaking down the right and striking a good effort from the right hand side of the box low and hard into the left corner of the goal. James O Donovan then scored a brace to ensure he joined Joshua Vaughan on a hatrick. Dion Drake was then unlucky hitting the post before Colin Murphy broke through the Ballybridge defence to complete the scoring.

Mogeely F.C. v Lismore A.F.C.
Mogeely with Strong win
WWEC 12 P 23/09 10:00
Mogeely F.C. 3 - 1 Lismore A.F.C.

Final Score: Mogeely 3-1 Lismore

Mogeely 3

Lismore 1

Mogeely were back in action last Sunday when they welcomed Lismore to Railway Park for their 2nd competitive league game of the season. Following on from their victory in the SFAI cup 1st round the previous week Mogeely were going into this game knowing Lismore would present a tough challenge and would have to maintain their good performance to get anything from the game.

Mogeely started with a similar defensive outfit as the previous week, Matt in goals and Evan, Chris & Oran holding the defensive line. Jake, Ciaran and Oliver started in the middle of the park and the 2 Andrew's headed up the attack.

Mogeely had tip and started the game brightly, retaining much of the possession and moving the ball around nicely. With 6mins on the clock Oliver, who was working well in midfield had the ball in the Lismore net, 1 up. Mogeely continued to press but Lismore were beginning to find a couple of gaps in Mogeely's defense and creating some chances of their own, however the lads quickly pulled up their socks and continued to keep Lismore at bay.

Midway into the half Ciaran, who was working hard added a second for Mogeely. Oliver added a further goal a few minutes later and Mogeely were doing well. With their strength in numbers Mogeely were able to introduce fresh legs of Cian B., Alex, Fionn & Aaron into the game who all slotted seamlessly into their positions.

Lismore however never gave up and pulled one back with a few minutes before halftime. The second half was a fairly even contest with both sides defending stoutly and at the same time not afraid to take on the defenses. Mogeely brought on further fresh legs in Darius, Cian A. & newcomer Alan who all freshened up Mogeely's options in midfield and attack.

Overall a very good result for the home side who were made to work hard by a very good Lismore side. Well done to all involved.

Honours Equal between Mogeely and Cappoquin in U12s
WWEC 12 P 08/09 12:30
Cappoquin Railway F.C. 1 - 1 Mogeely F.C.

Cappoquin 1

Mogeely 1

A very even and well contested game. Mogeely took the lead halfway in the first half when Darius Medves got in behind the Cappoquin defense and finished well. Both sides looked to create some great chances but both defenses kept composed and both goalkeepers pulled off some excellent saves.

In the 12th min of the second half the Cappoquin striker got on the end of a great ball, one on one with our keeper he tucked the ball away leaving our keeper very little chance.

It was a good open game of football with both sides not afraid to push forward searching for that winner. There was some fantastic skill shown tonight and overall probably the fairest result for both teams. Well done to all players for a very entertaining game.
