It was a nice warm but breezy afternoon in conna for this U12 premier league encounter. As we entered this match, Valley and Mogeely sit side by side mid table so it was always going to be a close one.
Mogeely started the brighter and had plenty of the possession in the first half. They had a number of half chances but had one good chance just before half time when the Mogeely centre forward was put through and had just the keeper to beat but Dan Turley in goals for Valley made a wonderful save to his right hand side to deny Mogeely. Valley had one good chance in the first half but Tymek pulled the ball wide from the right hand side.
Valley started the second half a bit brighter and were counter attacking well. This paid off when Tristan Clancy put a lovely ball through to Cillian Hickey who beat one player and finished well to put Valley ahead. Mogeely piled on the pressure and laid siege to the Valley goal for the last 15 minutes of the game but Valley were dogged in defence with Charlie Leahy, Brian O'Sullivan and Mark Kearney playing well. Mogeely had more of the possession right throughout the game and played some lovely football with Alex McSweeney showing brightly in midfield and deserved something from the game. Final score: Valley 1-0 Mogeely.
Lismore 3 Valley 3
Lismore lead 2-0 at half time through a Ty Corcoran brace. Valley came back early in the 2nd half to level it through a brace from Dan Turley before an amazing last 90 seconds - Lismore regained the lead through Hugo Quann and straight from the kick off Valley scored when Fionn McCready shot from the half way line and looped the ball over the keeper.
Ballymac FC travelled to Brideview for an 11am kick off and took all 3 points on offer with a comfortable 5-0 victory.
Goals from James Power, Alan McGrath, Adam Guiry, Seamie Wall and Jake Dwyer saw Ballymac close the gap to the league leaders Kilworth , and with this the still to be contested all is to play for and any number of teams can still win the league .
First outing of the season for both Teams in this U16 league match. It was a lively first half with chances at both ends. Some good saves from the Castlebridge keeper in particular.
The second half saw Valley start to dominate proceedings and an excellent left footed strike by winger Jack Murphy gave Valley the lead. Valley kept the pressure on and scored a brace from Jake O'Brien in quick succession. A beautiful through ball from Cathal Collins was nicely converted by forward Cillian Fitzpatrick and then Tom Hartnett finished a lovely move for the fifth goal. Castlebridge continued to push for a goal and were unlucky not to score towards the end.
Well done to referee Clive Good who had an excellent game.
Cappoquin Railway travelled to conna as favourites in this U14 league encounter as they have been doing very well so far this season. Valley started strongly and had a number of opportunities to open the scoring but Cappoquin defended well and held out. Against the run of play Cappoquin got the opener when some good play down the right hand side created the chance which was converted. Cappoquin got a number of goals in quick succession which ended the contest by half time with the score 6-0 to Cappoquin. A strange first half in that possession was pretty equal but Cappoquin took all their chances very well. Valley made some changes at half time and the game was more evenly balanced for the second half with both sides scoring a goal apiece.
Final Score: Valley 1 - 7 Cappoquin Railway.

Valley travelled to Castle Farm grounds last saturday as undefeated league leaders to play an improving Lismore side. Valley had a changed side as they were missing their two regular centre halves and they took time to settle into the game. Lismore came storming out of the blocks and dominated the first 20 minutes and deseved their 1-0 lead and could have scored a few more. However, Valley slowly started to dominate and got their just rewards when a Tom H cross from the right hand side into the box was flicked on by Harry Draper and met by Jake O'Brien to score Valley's opener. Valley kept the pressure on and a great run down the right by David and a superb cross was dispatched into the Lismore goal by Cillian. Valley led 2-1 at half time. The second half was end to end stuff and chances were falling at both ends. Lismore got a well deserved equaliser within 15 minutes of the restart. However 10 minutes later Harry Draper was taken down in the penalty area and David duly converted the spot kick for Valley to take a 3-2 lead. In the last 15 mins there were chances at both ends but Valley held out to take maximim points.
